Job Summary

The Advancement Data Services Manager is responsible for the strategic management of data for Advancement related systems to support the effective engagement and fundraising efforts of the USM Advancement organizations. Reporting to the Director of Advancement Technology Services, this position is responsible for data management, integration, and quality assurance, working closely with the advancement team to drive informed decision-making. This position is also responsible for maintaining security and access management of integrations and ensuring data management best practices are followed .

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborates with the Director of Advancement Technology Services to develop strategic plans and oversee management, maintenance, optimization, quality and accuracy of data for Advancement related systems.

Routinely performs data validation and integrity testing to identify data quality issues. Works with staff in associated areas to resolve data quality issues. Collaborates with Business Analyst and appropriate staff to create or revise data-related processes.

Defines, develops, and manages data pipelines and integration flows between the Advancement CRM platform and associated systems, including APIs and/or file-based integrations.

Working with the Advancement Services Business Analyst to identify needs, establishes and maintains data staging for reporting and dashboards.

Compiles and maintains procedures and technical documentation related to data pipeline and integration functions for the Advancement CRM platform and associated systems.

Maintains security and access management of integrations and m onitors data access and usage of integrations to safeguard against unauthorized use and breaches.

Ensures data management practices comply with university policies, industry standards, and legal requirements and provides Advancement staff training regarding data management best practices as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in information systems, data science, business, statistics or related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three years of experience in systems integration and data management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of relational databases, data structures, and SQL query techniques

Proficiency with systems integration platforms (e.g., Mulesoft, Boomi, Jitterbit)

Demonstrable experience in data integration and workflow scripting

Experience with API-based integration technologies (e.g. REST, OAuth, event brokers)

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data integrity

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree preferred. 5 years of data management, preferably in a higher education or non-profit environment. Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Salesforce) . Experience with data reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
