Talent Search Programs at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a TRIO Academic Coordinator. Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.RESPONSIBILITIES: The TRIO Academic Coordinator is responsible for direction and operation of the TRIO programs. The TRIO Academic Coordinator develops and implement policies and procedures related to the program objectives and curriculum. 70% of the TRIO Academic Coordinator’s job duties will include teaching participants and developing/designing academic curriculum that supports the participants individual academic progress towards postsecondary degree obtainment. The incumbent identifies and selects eligible applicants for participation in the TRIO programs. The incumbent works with a diverse group of special populations (homeless, foster youth, sexually abused, criminal offenders, addiction recovery, undocumented and unemployed) and provides intervention services as necessary. The incumbent works closely with university faculty, staff, and administrators, public school personnel, community leaders and professionals, faculty, staff, and administrators of other postsecondary educational institutions to establish and maintain a high level of quality services.REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in education, counseling, teaching, social work, or related area with at least two years’ experience as a teacher, counselor, social worker, or closely related area is required. Good written and oral communication skills, leadership abilities, and proven interpersonal skills are essential.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in working with economically and educationally disadvantaged middle and secondary school students. Planning and implementation of counseling programs and curriculum development for disadvantaged youth is helpful.
