About the Opportunity
This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00]
The Analyst position will be within the income tax accounting group of the Tax Department and will report to the Manager, Tax Accounting. This position is remote and will be based out of the Akron, OH Corporate Office, with occasional travel into the office as needed.
Responsibilities include:
Performing various accounting and analytical tasks to support calculation of the income tax provision, including preparing journal entries for monthly and quarterly closing and documentation relating to financial reporting and internal control functions
Compiling and analyzing data necessary to support the preparation and filing of federal and state income tax returns
Compiling and analyzing data necessary to support the preparation and filing of various regulatory reports and/or rate cases
Reconciling various tax accounts as needed
Taking initiative to solve problems and bring issues to closure
Collaborating openly and honestly as part of a team

Qualifications include:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or comparable degree with Accounting minor or specialization, required.
Minimum 0-2 years work experience required
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience with SAP preferred but not required
Ability to follow established practices, procedures, and instructions, and produce accurate and timely work product
Flexibility and ability to adapt to shifting priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently on special assignments as directed
