Program Manager 4-ProdDev

Oracle

Job Description

The Infrastructure Global Industry Unit (IGIU) serves the large and diverse Construction, Energy, and Water Industries with cutting edge technology, solutions, and market leadership.

The R&D organization is comprised of over 2,000 team members dedicated to delivering technology and products that improve lives of people around the world.

The R&D organization is seeking to add a high energy individual to step into a Program Manager role.

This role requires a thinker with strategic vision and tactical prowess. We need you to identify gaps and communicate ideas, solutions, and concerns, as well as identify plans for future process development, iterations, and the continuous improvement of them. You will be expected to recommend changes and support your positions on those changes using the data you report.

As a Program Manager, you will work internally with the team to refine practices, processes, and reporting to drive deliverables to completion. Metric reporting will include, but is not limited to, SLA compliance of internal and external partners, roadmap execution performance, operations efficiency, and regional deployment of services worldwide. An important function of this role is communicating risk factors to affected teams due to unexpected delays associated with underlying infrastructure and services. This role requires the ability to multitask and keep multiple sources of data organized and current.

An IGIU Program Manager role is hardly ever the same hour-by-hour or day-by-day. At Oracle, your daily workload and expected deliverables will be varied and priorities will definitely compete. Your fact patterns will be complex versus easy and you will be required to work effectively on your own and as an integral piece of the team. You should be fully competent in your own area of expertise but also able to “lean in” to support the team whenever required, and you will be expected to provide support and guidance to more junior members on the team. You will be expected to be open to stretching your knowledge boundaries often.

Top Five Requirements

Communication & Status – Effective communication is critical, especially when team members should operate independently and still act as a cohesive team unit to external stakeholders. You will be expected to provide consistent, valuable communication across teams and have the ability to drive all related tasks to closure as per process, including on time status reporting to peer stakeholders and executives.

SLA’s & Reporting – Drive SLA’s. This candidate should have the ability to drive team members, internal and external, to meet all SLA’s. He/she has to be able to work around/remove obstacles and understand when escalation is needed to avoid impact to the project deployment/releases and business. This role is also accountable for efficient and effective monthly demand metrics such as ticket counts, and other Development/Operations/Support metrics.

Problem solving – Can you see risk and how to avoid it? This role requires someone that can spot issues, prioritize and mitigate in accordance with priorities and risk appetite. You have to also know how to ask the tough questions of several different teams and get them to support the common goal. Problems can also have downstream impacts, so the person in this role has to be good with awareness of overarching project and timelines, identify and manage dependencies, plan to avoid surprises/risks as much as possible and be able to influence up and down the chain of command.

Organization – Cloud Program Management in a start-up environment means keeping many projects on track while managing multiple processes, deliverables and tasks, yet, still accommodating the day to day SaaS Cloud business needs across time zones. Agility is required as direction can frequently change on a dime with little notice and all other deliverables will still be due.

Change & Process – We need a visionary that can see opportunities for improvement and make changes quickly, even at only 70% baked, to improve services to our customers now. This includes all aspects – writing up new processes, answering emails and support requests and being able to drive change in accordance with limited resources and compressed timelines effectively with awareness and inclusion across impacted teams.

Other Requirements

Be inquisitive! Ask around, find the best data sources for reporting and decision making, network with peers internal and external to the organization.

Deliver Results!! Drive urgent requests, pull together meetings but always with a “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” mentality.

It’s ALL About the Details! You have to be detail oriented and understand that there is not much time during the day to concentrate quietly and focus. You should be able to plan for changing needs and priorities and always keeping tight on critical details which can never be a low priority.
