What will you be doing at Woodard and Curran?
Woodard and Curran has a phenomenal opportunity to join our Customer Service Department team at our Public Water Supply District #2 / East Central Missouri Project. We are looking for a Utility Worker who be responsible for changing out water meters, repairing water meters, meeting with customers about issues on water and sewer, perform locates of water and sewer lines throughout the district, and any operations/maintenance and housekeeping in accordance with contract requirements, and other customer service-related job duties.
Typical tasks include:
– Responsible for the installation of water meters in the district.
– Manage water meter inventory.
– Trouble Shooting (Routes, Water Quality Issues)
– On Call Rotation
– Read meters.
– Maintains communication with project personnel
– Performs preventive maintenance on equipment
– Perform utility locates
– Perform service orders
– Complies with all company Health and Safety procedures
What will you need to succeed?
– Proficiency with computers, including the ability to work with, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance Management Programs and other job-related specific systems
– High School Graduate or Equivalent
– Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the operation of customer service.
– Possess a valid Drivers License
– Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
– The duties and responsibilities are generally performed in Outdoor environment. The position generally involves sitting; frequent standing; frequent walking; light to moderate lifting; light carrying; frequent bending and reaching; keyboarding and telephone operation.
– May require an irregular work schedule and overtime hours.
– Performs and reviews work at interior and exterior locations that involve hazardous environments requiring protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, odors, chemicals and noise. May be required to work in confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops, and in adverse weather conditions.
– Specific physical conditions require frequent work with chemicals, machinery, moving mechanical parts etc.
– The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
– May stand, walk, or move 6 to 8 hours daily.
– May sit for 1 to 3 hours daily.
– May perform operations and maintenance functions requiring manual dexterity and precision movements, continuous or repetitive arm and hand movements, grasping movements, and occasional forceful exertion.
– Exert moderate, though not co stant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, bending and reaching, climbing stairs and ladders.
– May lift, carry, push/pull objects and materials: regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 40 pounds,
– Perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth and visual cues or signals.
– Visual and muscular dexterity to operate a motor vehicle including while towing portable equipment, equipment, hand tools and computer.
– May operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer terminal and telephone.
– May be required to work in confined spaces and at elevations.
– May occasionally be required to wear hearing protection.
– May require an irregular work schedule and overtime hours.
– May require to fulfill on-call responsibilities.
– May be required to wear a respirator.
– May involve working in inclement weather conditions.
The duties and responsibilities are generally performed in a outdoor environment, and may be performed both indoors and outdoors. Moderate exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials and chemicals, machinery, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, and water hazards.
$25 – $27 an hour
Depending on qualifications and experience.
