Para Professional (Secondary)
LACLEDE COUNTY DISTRICT R-1 SCHOOL
Qualifications: 60 hours of college credit or Para Pro Praxis
Reports to:Director of Special Services
Job Goal: Serve as support for the instructional personnel in order to provide
a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which
students can take full advantage of the instructional program and
available resource materials.
Position: This position could be working in a special education classroom, small groups of students,
or assisting as a classroom aide. The specifics will be determined at a later date.
Performance Responsiblity:
1. Under cooperation of a licensed teacher assists in classroom activities
2. Works with small groups of students or an individual studentto reinforce material initially introduced in the
students classroom
3. Assists individual students in need of special attention
4. Performs clerical duties
5. Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work as directed by the teacher
6. Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties such as snack, restroom, and clothing
7. Checks notebooks, corrects papers and supervises testing and make up work
8. Participates in in-service trainings
9. Exemplify a professional attitude toward fellow staff members
10. Adhere to all policies of the BOE
11. Be familiar with the classroom program in order to act as a short-term substitute in case the regular
classroom teacher is absent
12. Present an appearance and maintains a decorum that will promote a positive
educational environment
13. Proceed through staff-line relationships in requests, concerns, misunderstandings, and/or difficulties
14. Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the administration or teacher may
assign
