Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Senior Principal Military Trainer – Exercise Support Planner to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas . The selected candidate will join our Mission Command Training Program (MCTP), which trains Army Corps, Divisions, and Brigades in the Army Mission Command Systems and Operations Process. The Senior Principal Military Trainer leverages specialized expertise in planning and executing some or all phases of military training exercises, including doctrinal development, scenario development, and after-action review (AAR) and analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary advisor to the Headquarters Support Team (HST) Team Chief, HST Deputy Team Chief, and Exercise Support Division (ESD) Chief on all exercise related planning activities.
Serves as ESD senior trainer and advisor to Exercise Support Planners (ESPs) and provides guidance to ESP on all aspects of exercise support planning, life support, coordination requirements, and interaction with the Principal Military Exercise Planners, Army Civilian Professionals, and other Contractor Planners.
Develop ESD exercise support matrix assigning ESD personnel to exercise duties by location, in conjunction with ESD Chief and ESD Senior ARCHER Analyst.
Ensure timely writing, publishing, and delivery of Exercise Life Cycle Event contract deliverables (CDRL) while retaining highest quality by the team
Serves as the primary advisor to ESPs in Simulation Control Plan (SCP), ensures coordination with other Divisions within the HST to develop room builds and determine equipment and personnel needs for each exercise, reviews HST constructed SCP for accuracy and adherence to standards and guidance, and coordinates with the SCP Lead in the development of CDRLs
Understands SCP space apportionment and able to provide guidance on the initial development and construction of the HST Manning Document
Ensure the initial manning requirements for the initial Exercise Planning Travel Management System (EPTMS) are met
Maintain habitual relationship with HST internal staff sections.
Maintain habitual relationship with other Operations Groups (OPSGRP’s) POCs
Basic Qualifications:
One of the following:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 12 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
Must currently possess an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas
Must be able to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)
Must be able to deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations
Proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
Proficient with MS VISIO
Able to write at a college level, with experience in military writing style
Preferred Qualifications:
U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
Experience in an Operational Staff
Salary Range: $86,300 – $129,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
