Position Overview

Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) is looking for a Coatings Senior Trainer is ultimately responsible for the development of craft in coating operations not only in technical expertise but also in safety, quality, ethics, and overall career growth.

District Overview

Kiewit Offshore Services, a district (or business unit) of Kiewit Corporation that builds structurally complex jackets and topsides for offshore oil drilling rigs. Located in Ingleside, TX, 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi, the 550-acre fabrication yard is the workplace of 300 staff employees and 1400 craft employees who work in the yard year-round. Location

This position is located at Kiewits Offshore Services District in Ingleside, TX.

Responsibilities

• Determining the specific training requirements to elevate an employee to a first-class painter.

• Transforming unskilled learners into skilled painters.

• Continually audits employees post-training to ensure adherence to safety, productivity, and quality standards, with additional training recommendations documented and filed.

• Ensuring that leadmen receive all necessary training, keeping their qualifications and paperwork current, including quality control numbers.

• Assisting with in-house NACE training

• Developing and updating training programs to certify all first-class painters in accordance with AMPP/SSPC QP-3 standards and Leadman NACE certified ensuring we have a true QC program.

• Facilitating sessions to qualify a group for (Houston Painters competition).

• Mentors and coaches craft and FLS on Quality expectations : Is it Right.

• Evaluating the qualifications of all contractors entering the facility to ensure they meet the required standards.(no more first class when really helpers)

• Mentors and trains on knowing the Product Data Sheet ad adherence

• Audits Inspection and Test Plans and paint systems to ensure training is reflective of requirements

• Audit equipment maintenance, cleaning and proper use.

• Trains and ensures adherence for all necessary QC functions prior to and during blast and coatings:

 Pre-blast inspection, chloride test, Post-blast / pre-coating inspection – Dust Assessment, In process inspection – WFTs, Post-coating inspection – Check DFT’s, solvent rub.

• Training on personal Inspection tools and equipment, how to Check and monitor environmental conditions throughout the shift. Sling psychrometer, steel temp gauge, relative humidity chart, etc.

Qualifications

Has or is actively seeking NACE 3 qualification

Minimum of 10 years of coatings experience to the Energy, Oil & Gas, or Construction industry.

Experience in auditing job sites to identify and advise on improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.

Experience in determining specific training requirements to elevate an employee to a first-class painter.

Ability work on-site in Ingleside, TX.
