POSITION SUMMARY
Perform internal and external technical training on operation and safe testing of electrical power system equipment.
Perform internal training of ERS and HVM field service associates on operation and safe NETA based testing of electrical power system equipment.
Perform external training of ERS and HVM client personnel on operation of electrical power system equipment and electrical safe work practices.
Responsible for developing, preparing, and conducting technical training programs. Develop content and instructional materials used in training delivery and design exercises to enhance classroom lecture content.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruct on operation and safe testing of electrical power systems in accordance with International Electrical Testing Association (NETA) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) established procedures and practices.
Prepare/Manage classrooms, lab areas, and training equipment.
Order training supplies and materials required for scheduled training courses.
Conduct presentations and webinars.
Review and incorporate student feedback.
Practice continuous improvement in all aspects of education process.
Complete all administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate to develop and write training documentation content.
Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure training materials are current and the latest information is being taught.
Assist in design of computer-based and multimedia curriculum.
Other tasks as required to support the Technical Training program.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
BSEE and four years of related power system experience or graduate of applicable electrical technical school or military equivalent and eight years minimum related work experience.
NETA, NFPA, IEEE, IAEI and/or other professional organization involvement preferred.
Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA, NETA, and NFPA, especially NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910, and IEEE 1584 as they relate to electrical safe work practices.
NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Professional (CESP) is preferred or capable of achieving within 12 months.
Strong background and experience in all types of low and medium voltage switchgear and power system equipment testing.
Thorough knowledge of electrical apparatus testing with a strong theoretical understanding of three-phase industrial, commercial, and utility electrical power systems and equipment and a good aptitude for problem evaluation.
Regularly lift and/or move large test equipment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional presentation skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Possess a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
Detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision.
Proficient PC skills including all Microsoft Office products and web-based technologies. Skills also include editing video and audio files for online content development.
Valid drivers license.
