Payroll Supervisor

The Payroll Supervisor will oversee and assist in processing the orderly execution of accurate and timely payroll for US based employees. This role will lead and coach all payroll team members. Furthermore, this role will make recommendations to optimize payroll systems used. The Supervisor plays an instrumental role in preparing data to submit to corporate for gross to net processing. This role will create documentation on each process and work with other locations to understand similarities and/or differences to make recommendations for best practice.
How you will do it:
– Oversees workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely; coordinates daily work activities and assigns workload as needed
– Provides information, assistance and/or training to employees and staff; provides technical/procedural assistance; trains on payroll policies/procedures/CBA
– Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
– Advises, interprets, and provides direction to management on policies and procedures, federal, state, and local laws and regulations involving payroll and related benefit program deductions to ensure ongoing compliance.
– Load import files to Corporate Pay Team
– Forward any garnishments to Corporate Pay Team for further processing
– Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
– Develop adhoc reports as needed
– Coordinate off cycle pay runs with Corp Pay Team
– Evaluate and implement appropriate payroll policies and controls; recommend payroll processing and system enhancements to increase efficiency and streamline processes
– Problem solve and respond to issues/questions in payroll mailbox
– Assists staff with general questions related to payroll, leave accruals, wage deductions, fringe benefits, and other pay related issues
– Research complex payroll issues for proper treatment and provide appropriate resolution
– Ensure service levels are met while maintaining strong relationships and an accurate payroll function
– Validate and assist with annual vacation payout process
– Audit payroll information for accuracy and perform sign offs where necessary
– Maintain the payroll system by validating calculations and working with IT to update appropriately; be involved in testing when needed
– Works closely with Director to assist internal and external auditors during audit process by providing documents, reports, and other payroll-related reports upon request; implements procedural changes recommended by auditors.
– Perform ad hoc payroll-related research and analysis at the request of the Payroll Director.
– Create documentation for all payroll processes and update as required
What we look for:
– Bachelors Degree with major in accounting or equivalent
– Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal payroll and related tax laws, regulations, and statutes
– Working knowledge of payroll best practices
– Proficient in Excel and familiar with other Microsoft Office software
Preferred:
– CPP preferred but not required
– Experience processing multi-state payroll
– Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
– Decision making, problem solving and analytical skills
– Workday and Kronos experience preferred but not required
