Position Summary:
Performs the daily operations of Gordon Food Service Stores including: customer service, stocking, inventory management, operating point of sale and maintaining store conditions. In the absence of a Store or Assistant Manager supervises sales associates in the performance of their assigned duties.
Essential Functions:
Assists the management team, as assigned, in the management of daily store operations and assists in supervising associates in the performance of their assigned duties. Opens and closes the store. Executes store policies and procedures and all safety and security measures.
Executes product stocking and dating as outlined within our frozen to fresh program.
Provides superior customer service to all customers by greeting, answering questions, suggestive selling, helping customers, answering the telephone and executing on all external order processes such as e-comm and express orders.
Properly use equipment to prepare and package products for sale, ie juice, sliced deli meat, produce, etc..
Maintains merchandising presentation standards, inventory disciplines and marketing direction through the execution of daily and weekly company standard procedures/disciplines and assigned tasks.
Receives and merchandises products along with ordering DSD, ensuring accuracy, proper rotation and product quality through proper storage of perishables within the appropriate temperature zones.
Ensures accurate and efficient processing of customer purchases through the point of sale. Ensures security of assets including cash, checks, and merchandise by following policies and procedures, including cart to cart.
Executes in a timely manner on the assigned workflow tasks within the My-Go To task system.
Performs office cash handling functions including setting up tills, counting down tills, preparing/delivering bank deposits, and getting change for cashiers as assigned.
Supports the training of associates to ensure that store condition standards, merchandising standards, sales and customer service are maintained.
Maintains facility through general maintenance and cleaning activities.
Operates power equipment safely, such as slicing equipment, walkie lifts and forklifts where applicable.
Appropriately responds to store emergencies, such as alarm calls and electrical outages, ensuring safe handling of store assets and minimizing loss.
Adheres to and supports all policies and procedures of GFS.
Achieves and maintains certifications or licenses to meet local, state and federal requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Good written and verbal communication skills to provide direction, customer service and speak publicly at store functions
Excellent customer service skills to include solving customer concerns and issues
Ability to perform tasks, prioritize, and work independently and within a team
Basic mathematical aptitude to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Solve routine problems of moderate scope and complexity following established policies and procedures
Basic computer skills
Attention to detail
Ability to follow instructions
Ability to coach and train others on process and procedure
