As our Med Surg Nursing Supervisor at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake, you oversee a team of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

This position contributes to the Mission and Vision of CommonSpirit Health by serving as a supervisor with oversight of the day to day activities of department operations and team members assigned. Provides management support to plan, organize and lead resources with assigned team members; as well as functioning as an individual contributor within the department. Participates in operationalizing CommonSpirit Health/Midwest Division Strategic Initiatives and priorities. Serves as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Commitments of CommonSpirit Health.

Responsibilities
Works collaboratively with the VP of Nursing and Human Resources to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations.
Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
Allocates and directs staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and department needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
Manages performance including: Setting goals, clarifying job expectations, monitoring performance progress, providing feedback and recognition, developing skills and addressing performance issues related to our work and our Commitments using corrective action with collaboration and direction from Human Resources.
Oversees quality of patient care to assure delivery of individualized nursing care. Reviews and follows up on incident reports that promotes the safety of both patients and staff. Makes timely recommendations for improvements and revisions. Develops education in collaboration with the Director of Nursing for staff that promotes learning opportunities designed for nursing to maximize skills development to the top of their license and scope of practice.
Oversees patient care delivery to maximize patient/family satisfaction and minimize risk of injury or negative outcomes to patients or employees. Directs staff during emergency situations. Acts as an advocate for patients and family members. Acts as a resource for staff.
Assures timely, accurate and complete assessment, intervention, and documentation in the medical record and care plan. Utilizes computer assessments and care planning tools.
Responds to patient, campus and office concerns to make sure resolution is achieved and quality of care is maintained.
Serves as technology super user. Assists in orienting and training new staff. Serves as a resource to the team.
Other duties as assigned by the leader and organization .
Qualifications
Associates RN acceptable with minimum of 3 years’ experience in the discipline OR Master’s Degree and no experience.
License in State of ND, BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS
Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Pay Range
$27.77 – $40.27 /hour
