Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Engineer Facilities . This position is located in Roy, UT, in support of the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division.
Roles and responsibilities:
Serve as the Division focal point to derive requirements, limitations, layouts, and ROM cost estimates to drive new facility construction and proposal planning in multiple geographical locations.
Analyze SDS Division capacity and Long-Range Strategic Planning forecasts to conceptualize new facility acquisition and modification efforts.
Review and adjudicate all space and facility modification requests to confirm alignment with SDS Division strategy and Defense Sector growth.
This position will lead all design and construction activities for both new construction and facility major modification at various Northrop Grumman facilities within the SDS portfolio.
Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility.
Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
In addition, the candidate should have experience with building commissioning and equipment start-up and be able to undertake detailed mechanical design & engineering reviews including HVAC load analysis, piping capacities and sizing, etc.
Prepare reports, specifications, data sheets and technical requisitions as necessary to fully define the design requirements and the equipment and services required.
Provide technical direction & supervision to engineering design/CAD personnel in preparation of mechanical design and equipment layouts, along installation details.
Review supplier documentation and incorporate electrical details within the design, survey existing installations to facilitate the design and integration of additions.
This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in science with 12 years of Facilities Engineering experience; Masters with 10 years of experience in mentioned field; PhD with 8 years of experience in mentioned field.
Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top Secret level clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years; with the ability to obtain Special Program Access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong history of leading large design/builds.
Revit and AutoCAD drafting experience.
Must be able to maintain one line drawing for multiple buildings.
Experience supporting manufacturing facilities.
Interpret building and utility drawings and make the revisions as required.
Ability to design security systems to the ICD705 is preferred.

Salary Range: $129,500 – $194,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
