Description
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Head Cook, the employee is responsible for preparing food as instructed, washing pots, pans and dishes, stocking, cleaning, assisting staff in kitchen area and other duties as assigned.
Rotational Schedule: 2 weeks on/2 weeks off OR 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off (depending on camp site)
Pay: $1,400-$1,700 per week
Lodging and food provided at the job site
Travel to/from Anchorage to the Slope
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 18 years of age
Current State of Alaska Food Worker Card
Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical requirements
Must meet criminal history and background requirements
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
One year of previous kitchen experience
Training and application in prevention of food borne illness, HACCP, sanitation and personal hygiene
Previous experience in camps and/or related area experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clean and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, and equipment
Clean as assigned following proper procedures
Unload supplies and small equipment from storeroom area and pot area
Review production sheet assignment, and secure HACCP approved, standardized recipes for assigned food items
Prepare correct number of food portions as assigned by the cook, using HACCP written standardized recipes and appropriate HACCP guidelines
Utilize proper equipment and utensils
Take corrective action if temperatures of food items are not achieved correctly
Prepare and portion resident snacks and nourishments according to instructions and regulatory guidelines
Replenish tray line food as needed
Promote, establish and maintain a safe work environment for all employees and clients
Set up dining room
Provide quality customer service
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
Willingness to perform other duties as required
Willingness to work at various locations as required

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The employee will be required to live and work in a remote and confined workspace for extended periods of time and exposure to work assignments consisting of twelve-hour days and able to work day or night shifts as required. The majority of the work is performed in a remote setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities. There may be a lack of immediate access to critical medical services as well as urban community services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Applicant will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical and Functional Capacity Exam.
