Job Description Summary:
The Manager, Supply Chain and Production Planning creates and maintains manufacturing production plans for commercial supplies, clinical supplies, and raw materials at multiple contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs). Using commercial/clinical forecast(s), the incumbent evaluates, implements and maintains a cost-effective Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) or equivalent system to plan and monitor all contract manufacturing. He/she is also responsible for developing and executing the Demand and Inventory Plans that enable PTC to meet clinical demand, target sales and service objectives. He/she collaborates cross-functionally with internal departments (including, but not limited to, PTCs Supply Chain function located in Dublin, Ireland, Commercial, Clinical Operations, Process Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Clinical Supplies, Procurement, and Finance/Tax). He/she also will have external collaboration with CMOs and other vendors and suppliers.The Manager, Supply Chain and Production Planning supports adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary duties/responsibilities:
- Evaluates, implements and maintains a supply chain/MRP management system/database.
- Prepares and manages long- and short-term production schedules to ensure on-time delivery of products and target inventory levels. For any future commercial product(s), monitors SKU levels, recommends future SKU rationalization initiatives and proactively facilitates and re-engineers inventory management processes for continuous improvement.
- Creates and issues production forecasts and purchase orders to the various contract manufacturing and packaging sites.
- Tracks the retest/expiry dates of all raw materials and drug substances to ensure seamless availability of these materials for timely manufacture of products.
- Coordinates activities between Clinical Supplies and Manufacturing to ensure a sustained and timely supply of product; interfaces with Quality Assurance (QA), Manufacturing, Product Development, other internal departments and external CMOs to facilitate the manufacture and release of product.
- Works closely with the Finance Department on Inventory position, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and Inventory Capitalization.
- Coordinates packaging activities with Artwork leads in Ireland to accommodate Regulatory change requirements, new market launches and changes to existing packaging.
- Assists in the preparation of manufacturing/inventory reports for monthly/quarterly accounting of budget versus spend and provide updates to guide annual spend.
- Oversees PTCs demand planning (forecasting and inventory) requirements process. Coordinates forecast and inventory planning meetings with Commercial, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) and Finance team members to review recommended forecasts and inventory goals; manages inventory targets including safety stock levels that are approved by management; prepares and communicates forecasts and inventory measurements to management (forecast accuracy, inventory plan vs. targets).
- Supports PTCs Sales and Operations Planning process.
- Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain logistics or related discipline and a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in supply chain management including procurement, materials management, forecasting and demand planning in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment OR a Masters degree in Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain logistics or related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in supply chain management including procurement, materials management, forecasting and demand planning in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment OR equivalent experience and/or education
Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.
- Experience in utilizing an ERP system in a Pharmaceutical Supply Chain environment. Specific experience with SAP S/4 is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop effective and collaborative working relationships with contract manufacturers and other related vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues and take proactive, corrective action.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally with multiple levels across the organization and to lead quarterly S&OP process for that team
- Current knowledge of global pharmaceutical shipping requirements and demonstrated experience applying this knowledge to facilitate supply chain objectives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
- Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred.
- Professional experience in a Materials Management (Forecasting/Demand Planning) or Production Planning role involving scheduling for outsourced manufacturing.
- Association for Supply Chain Management CPIM, CSCP certificates a plus.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) production.
- Familiarity with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA) regulations.
