Location/Division Specific Information

The role of Divisional Process Safety Program Manager (PSPM) will be based out of Fair Lawn or Bridgewater, NJ site(s) and will support the global Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD)

Discover Impactful Work:

The PSPM will lead LCD’s process safety program across the global division. Accountable for leading the effective implementation of process safety programs and compliance regulations at US Federal and State levels and international standards in the UK, Belgium, and Germany.

The PSPM will provide matrix leadership to site safety and process technical teams with a focus on continuous improvement of the fourteen elements of process safety. This is achieved through leading and collaborating with multi-functional teams and analyzing process safety performance indicators to identify trends, areas for improvement, and develop strategies to mitigate risks.

A day in the Life:

·Champion the divisional process safety function; develop the site(s) teams capability to conduct comprehensive process hazard analyses (PHA) in accordance with the required schedules and lead the completion of PHA action items.

·Collaborate with the Site Operations, Plant Engineering and local EHS leads to provide process safety support and lead the MOCs (management of change) and PSSRs (pre-startup safety reviews).

·Support divisional strategic process safety investment projects staying ahead of industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes related to process safety

·Collaborating with divisional cross-functional teams to design and implement engineering controls, safety systems, and emergency response plans

·Collaborating with regulatory agencies ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

·Develop a process safety roadmap aligned to STRAP that bridges process safety skill gaps and resource succession plans

·Developing and delivering process safety training programs to educate employees on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and hazard recognition

·Support the manufacturing engineering early equipment asset management when installing new equipment and technologies, ensuring process safety is fully considered and embedded.

·Conduct incident investigations with effective root cause analysis and corrective action identified to completion

·Conduct Job Hazard Analyses and Risk assessments in order to proactively identify potential risks to the business and employees

·Support, revise and develop new SOPs and P&IDs as needed.

·Develop strategies and programs to ensure that sites can consistently maintain regulatory compliance; monitor, interpret and analyze the business impact of EHS regulatory requirements.

·Support the EHS staff with select environmental oversight and reporting

·Investigating process safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and prevent reoccurrence

·Monthly reporting and reviews with site teams and agencies

Keys to Success:

Education

BS in Chemical Engineering or related field

Experience

5 years of Process Safety experience

10 years professional work experience in EHS or chemical manufacturing

Matrix Management

Experience working in the chemical or gas and oil industries

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners

Experienced in working with multi-functional global teams and leading collaboratively to achieve business objectives

Demonstrates a self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach

Capacity to think strategically and develop long-term process safety improvement strategies aligned with business objectives

Ability to analyze complicated process safety problems, identifying root causes, and implementing efficient countermeasures

Proactive interaction with representatives from regulatory agencies in accordance with corporate guidelines.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and motivate others to thoroughly and timely achieve results, with effective interpersonal skills dealing with people at various levels and in a variety of functions.

Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner.

Ability to make timely and informed decisions based on data, analysis, and risk assessment

PC literate with a strong skill using Power BI, Databases, Outlook, and Excel

Strong attention to detail
