NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr.Tonja Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

Teacher of Deaf & Hearing Impaired or Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have New York State initial, provisional or permanent certification as a Teacher of the Deaf & Hearing Impaired or Deaf and Hard of Hearing and have 3-5 years of successful experience in an urban school district. Preferred candidates will possess solid interpreting skills. LOCATION: Various Schools DUTIES: The teacher of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired/Hard of Hearing responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provides specialized instruction to students who have a hearing disability. Services include direct instruction, consultation, and co-teaching as appropriate.

Travel to different schools to deliver services as per the needs of the students.

Plan, implement and adapt lesson plans to meet the specific needs of each student.

Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive educational experience.

Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary.

Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.

Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

Use relevant technology to support instruction.

Observe and evaluate student performance and development.

Monitor and maintain records of student progress.

Prepare required reports

Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians

Any additional assigned duties deemed necessary and appropriate

APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interview shall be scheduled where appropriate. SALARY: Teacher salary schedule based on BTF contract FUND #: pending funding FINAL DATE FOR FILING: OCTOBER 18, 2024
