Job Summary

Process and deliver mail around Baltimore, MD and Washington DC utilizing a company vehicle.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

Transfer mail tubs from loading docks to mail room in the morning and mailroom to dock in the afternoon (if needed). Research mail not properly addressed or properly coded.

Sort mail from tubs to distribution tables, which are then broken down by mail code in the mail bins. Bundle mail as required by banding, bagging, or otherwise containerizing. Process accountable mail utilizing accountable mail tracking system, and process unidentifiable accountable mail.

Operate a motor vehicle and drive various mail delivery routes. Drive and deliver mail to various locations in Baltimore and Washington DC.

Deliver mail and pick up mail on various routes on foot.

Perform x-ray scan using an x-ray machine to scan all mail and packages for security of customers if required by contract.

Additional Responsibilities

Follow HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail.

If required at site, pull bags to be sent at the end of the day.

If needed, process machinable mail (folding, inserting, sealing, and opening).

Responsible for performing job in safe manner, with concern for others and a desire to increase production.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.

Valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportations to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record. (MVR).

Must be US Citizen (Natural or Documented Naturalized).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Preferred knowledge of U.S Postal regulations in the process of dealing with incoming, outgoing, certified, registered, insured and express mail.

Preferred experience in operating various mailroom machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit: reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
