Position Summary

Assists in the review of processes and controls required to produce materials in support of the

Companys revenue requirement and cost of service before regulatory commissions provides

accounting guidance on the effect of Commission orders and rules.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Reviews the work of regulatory accounting staff in the preparation of schedules, studies, adjustments, and other work papers for quarterly and annual filings, internal reports, and rate cases.

• Verifies that all controls (reviews, reconciliations, tie-outs, footing, cross-footings, recalculations, etc…) have been properly executed and evidenced in the process of preparing schedules, studies, adjustments, and other work papers.

• Develops the skills and experience of the Regulatory Accounting Staff related to regulatory accounting, cost allocation methodologies, commission precedents, ratemaking principles, and the information systems utilized in the department.

• Prepares and presents expert testimony related to the Company’s cost of service, and/or supports the preparation of cost of service testimony by other Company witnesses.

• Reviews discovery requests and prepares responses.

• Conducts special analytical assessments and carries out assigned elements of the Companys business plan.

• Stays abreast of changes in regulation and deregulation and applies that knowledge to the creative development of regulatory solutions.

• Operates information technology for effective business decision-making.

• Promptly handles interactions with Regulatory Staffs, courteously and with the correct information to maintain Company’s credibility.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or related field required

• Masters Degree preferred

• 7 Years experience in accounting or relevant utility regulatory accounting experience required

• Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), rate-making principles, public utility accounting, and the impact of deregulation on a regulated utility.

• Demonstrated ability to present ideas logically and concisely to diverse audiences at all organizational levels, both verbally and in writing.

• Demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and complete projects, including leading team members to efficiently and effectively complete projects and tasks.

• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, and peers.

• Flexibility to work extended days as often as required to meet deadlines established by regulatory agencies and senior management.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, and to identify relevant issues in solving business problems, including evaluating multiple scenarios

We offer a competitive salary range of $103,000 to $141,250 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
