The chaplain provides or makes available spiritual, religious, and emotional resources for patients and their families during the patients hospitalization. Provides spiritual and emotional support for the hospital staff. Serves as an educational resource for staff. Serves on hospital committees as assigned. Participates on projects as may pertain to the clinically assigned area. Provides on-call coverage as assigned. Coordinates monthly schedule for volunteer Chaplains.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Ordination and/or endorsement with a faith community, and in good standing.
2. AMasters of DivinityorMastersof Religious Studies from a seminary accredited by the Association of Theological SchoolsORequivalent graduate-level degree that may be counted towards board certification.
3. Board Certified chaplain with Association of Professional Chaplains or National Association of Catholic Chaplains or obtained within three years of hire.
4. Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EXPERIENCE:
1. Two years of healthcare chaplaincy experience preferred

1. Makes spiritual care visits to patients, their families, and hospital staff on a regular and consistent basis to enable them to utilize, discover, or develop their spiritual resources in times of crises.
2. Interacts consistently in a warm manner that effectively invites others into pastoral relationships.
3. Functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary teams of ones assigned areas.
4. Provides effective, competent, informed spiritual support for: organ donation, ethical dilemmas, discontinuation of life support and palliative care, as well as trauma and medical/surgical patients.
5. Serves as an educational resourcein the area ofspirituality, grief, compassion fatigue and resilience, and ethical decision making for hospital staff and community.
6. Provides spiritual resources that are appropriatein light ofthe others tradition, including reading material, provision for ceremonies and rituals, and arranging of visits by faith representatives from the community when specifically requested.
