PUBLIC HEALTH- IMMUNIZATION
OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY
This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.
This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

DUTIES
This position will provide direct nursing care in an Immunization Clinic at the Florida Department of Health in Broward County. Position reports directly to the Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor. Position will Independently assess vaccine schedule and administers age-appropriate CDC recommended vaccines to infants, children and adults in the clinic and outreach events when assigned. Provide client education and dissemination of information promoting immunizations.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques.
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
Knowledge of Immunization practices and administration of vaccines to infants, children, and adult
Knowledge in assisting clinician with medical procedures.
Knowledge in preparing exam rooms for medical procedures.
Knowledge in Storage and Handling of vaccines
Skill in computer use.
Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity.
Ability to administer injectable medications.
Ability to work with patients.
Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions.
Ability to observe patient for signs symptoms related to adverse reactions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours, or days in the event of an emergency.
2. Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
3. Six (6) months of nursing practice as a LPN working in a Public Health clinic, Skilled Nursing Facility or hospital care delivery system, or physician’s office.
4. Six (6) months or more working as LPN administering injectable medications.
5. Willing to work one (1) late evening.
6. Bilingual, fluent in English/Spanish or English/Creole
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Work experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) administering immunizations to infants, children, or adults.
Work experience as a LPN working in Pediatric Medical Office.
Work experience as a LPN working in Public Health.
Work experience as a LPN using Electronic Health Records.
