American Express National Bank (AENB) is American Express’ chartered national bank. Headquartered in Utah, AENB is the single largest entity within American Express’ business, currently representing more than 50 percent of the company’s Card Member Spending, nearly 90 percent of its lending, and more than 60 percent its of revenues.
American Express National Bank provides American Express’ customers with access to consistent payments, financing, and savings products in three ways, including:
Issuing and servicing charge and credit cards for the consumer and small business segments.
Offering commercial loans to small and midsized merchants, as well as installment loans to consumers.
Maintaining a Personal Savings program consisting of high-yield savings accounts and certificate of deposit products.
Colleagues across American Express’ key business units (known as “affiliates”) use their experience and skills to support AENB in executing on its strategy. In addition, many of American Express’ executives also serve as officers of AENB. AENB is governed by its own Board of Directors. It is regulated, supervised, and examined by several regulatory agencies, including the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for wide-ranging safety and soundness and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for adherence to federal consumer financial laws. All AENB colleagues, officers, and affiliates have a long-standing commitment to driving strong and standardized risk management practices in accordance with the OCC’s Heightened Standards guidelines.
The Enterprise Control Management Utility within AENB operates as a Center of Excellence to serve as a central support hub for all first-line control management teams throughout the enterprise and be a key connection point with the second-line GRC teams.
The Senior Manager of BU Control Management Communications will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies aimed at enhancing the understanding and awareness of operational risk management practices across the 1st Line of Defense (1LoD).
This role will ensure that communication initiatives are aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements, fostering a risk-aware culture within the organization.
Responsibilities Include:
Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies aligned with Operational Risk Management objectives.
Help monitor and integrate regulatory changes into communication materials, ensuring that updates are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders across BUs and LoDs.
Support continuous improvement in communication effectiveness by implementing innovative tools, techniques, and feedback mechanisms.
Contribute to assessing the effectiveness of communication strategies and recommend adjustments to improve outcomes as needed.
Actively participate in sharing insights, best practices, themes, and techniques across the enterprise to promote a risk-aware culture.
Collaborate with the communication team to deliver high-quality communication programs that align with broader organizational objectives.
Engage with business units to ensure that communication initiatives meet their specific needs and align with the overall strategy.
Desired Qualifications:
4 years of experience in supporting the development and execution of communication strategies within a financial services context.
Background in risk management or operational context communication.
Familiarity with relevant regulations and experience in ensuring compliance within a communication environment.
Ability to support continuous improvement in communication effectiveness, utilizing innovative methods.
Strong communication and collaboration skills within a matrix organization, with an ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to identify important areas in communication and prioritize work accordingly.
Experience in supporting transformation and change initiatives within an organization.
Experience in designing and implementing communication programs.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Strong consultation, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills; ability to understand challenges and articulate them into actionable plans.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
