There are multiple openings for the Field Supervisor Trainee role within the Transport and Rail (T&R) organization. These positions will be located in several different areas within the organization’s coverage map and will report to the Area Manager in the respective assigned District within Transport Operations. This position typically lasts 9 –24 months prior to advancing to a permanent location and supervisor role. Placement depends on development progress and/or full-time opportunity availability. During the training process, emphasis will be placed on developing a working knowledge of transport operations, inter-departmental business activities, and leadership skills. This position will require significant travel which could include extended periods of time away from home location. The goal of the T&R Field Supervisor Trainee Program is to keep average travel per month between 25-50%, however travel can be up to 75% in a given month based on backfill assignments or trainee needs. The objective of the Field Supervisor Trainee Program is to develop qualified leadership candidates for supervisory and managerial positions within the T&R organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop broad operations knowledge and leadership skills through the Field Supervisor Trainee training curriculum, classroom training, and on-the-job learning.

Assumes the responsibilities of the Supervisor/Manager on a temporary basis and performs such responsibilities at various locations for developmental purposes including managing day to day operations of the fleet, supporting drivers, coaching, providing leadership, understanding local operations, etc.

Actively participates in HES&S programs and initiatives and other pertinent Marathon and G&P programs and initiatives.

Provide support for day-to-day operations of facility, including collaboration with Transport Scheduling (TPS) to optimize fleet efficiency.

Coordination of local construction and growth projects, as applicable.

Build financial acumen and engage with Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A) to ensure knowledge and understanding of profit and loss statements and controllable costs. This also includes using SAP to manage purchase orders, invoices, etc.

Assists operations and administration in the identification and resolution of operational issues and problems, including managing onboard electronic logging device, payroll process, etc.

Partner with Maintenance & Reliability to maintain equipment and improve equipment reliability.

Shares on-call responsibilities with other operational employees (will require off-hours and weekend work)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School or GED Equivalent

Travel Required: up to 75%

A valid Drivers License is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Undergraduate Degree in Business related field preferred.

Supervisory experience desired

Computer Proficiencies: Microsoft Office
