Overview
M Health Fairview is looking for an Imaging Technologist Assistant Modality intern. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work with a preceptor to learn advanced modality (MRI) exam performance. You will be cross trained to understand imaging exam acquisition, patient positioning, venipuncture access and MRI safety.
Responsibilities Job Description
Patient care
Assists the technologist in the preparation of patient for radiology procedures as needed
Ensures patient safety and emergency preparedness
Documents and practices accurate identification of patient information
Assists Technologist in the Imaging modalities area as needed with scheduling, checking in and patient care needs
Pre-Schedules patients in the Imaging modalities area
Performs outbound calls from the Imaging work queue, to assist in scheduling pending exams
Rooms and supplies
Assists in the cleaning, maintenance, stocking and preparation of rooms. Ensures that supplies are maintained
Adheres to radiology polices and infection control standards
Radiology Information System
Navigates PACS, EMR and Radiant with ease
Schedules/Checks in/arrives patients for their imaging appointments
Sends and retrieves information throughout the hospital and assists with daily application and system needs as needed
Acts as a patient care representative
Works with identified preceptor to perform patient imaging
Greets and prepares patients for imaging exams and aids patients with completing pre-contrast CT and pre-MRI Safety questionnaires
Conducts venipuncture access for exams with contrast
Assists in positioning patients for Radiological Examinations, excluding holding during imaging acquisition
Transports imaging patients occasionally as needed for efficiency purposes
Prepares contrast for examinations
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making
Communicates in a respectful manner
Ensures a safe, secure environment
Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs
Modifies clinical interventions based on population served
Provides patient education based on an assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver
Fulfills all organizational requirements
Completes all required learning relevant to the role
Complies with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures and standards
Fosters a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
Actively Enrolled Student of an Accredited Radiogrphy program
1 year clinical rotation experience
Basic Life Support Certification
Meet MRI Safety Screen requirements
