The Pipeline Automation Specialis t is primarily accountable for supporting the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of all pipeline automation equipment. This will include pipeline equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), Operational Technology networks and human machine interface (HMI) equipment. They will be expected to improve/enhance long-term PLC equipment reliability and technical support to Phillips 66 Midstream operations/projects and implementation of PLC automation technology strategies within operations/projects. The position will also require an individual with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and business partners that provide automation technologies, services, and support of the PLC and associated control systems.
Responsibilities May Include
Working with Internal and External customers to identify requirements and then to design and implement automation systems that meet those needs.
Supporting the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of all pipeline automation equipment. This includes pipeline equipment such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and human machine interface (HMI) equipment.
Functionally directing company technicians and supervising contract labor used to construct or enhance automation systems.
Leading company in awareness of new developments in Automation, and changes in Codes and Standards.
Applying specialized knowledge to ensure the safety, reliability, and cost effectiveness of technology used to meet business requirements.
Reviewing specifications, estimates, and approval documents and guiding projects through design and implementation.
Capturing best practices and interpreting Industry Regulations for introduction into Company Policies and Standards.
Analyzing malfunctioning systems and finding safe, expedient, and cost-effective ways to correct deficiencies.
Proficient in the use of various Automation and Control network communications protocols
Design, deploy and manage Active Directory domain automation and process control systems.
Problem Solving: Identifying and correcting safety hazards or system flaws that contribute to downtime or inefficient operations.
Leads Factory and Site Acceptance Testing for Automation cabinets and equipment.
Implements and maintains asset historians and user interfaces.
Accountability: Responsible for the safety, efficiency and reliability of Pipeline & Terminal facility automation systems and the execution of projects under their direction.
Champion change through individual efforts and team leadership or membership.
Required:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
Associate’s degree, or higher degree in Instrumentation, Electronic Communications, Industrial Electronics or technical discipline
Must maintain valid drivers license.
3 or more years of industry experience in program development or troubleshooting all Allen Bradley PLC software platforms.
Able to travel up to 40% of the time.
Able to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
Preferred:
Expert level of understanding and demonstrated ability to program and/or configure automation technology such as sensors, PID loop control, data communications, and other electrical machines.
Intermediate level of proficiency with Pipeline & Terminal business processes and equipment such as mainline motors and engines, pipeline flow measurement equipment, and tank level measurement equipment
Four-year degree in a technical discipline
3 or more years of experience in automation network design for industrial applications
