MRO Buyer

This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of indirect materials and services for operation centers across Ducommun. This will require strong indirect category/commodity understanding as well as relationship managing skills, negotiating skills & managing multiple projects.

Our facility in Gardena is a leading global supplier of large stretch formed aircraft skins, hot forming of titanium, superplastic forming and complex fastened and welded assemblies.

Job Summary

Procurement of MRO/Indirect Buy:

Execute Indirect and MRO strategy with DCO Commodity Director to support each SBU and Operation Center with optimum quality, delivery and cost across MRO and indirect products and services.

Responsibility may also include procurement of low quantity spend or product specific commodities such as motors, special hardware or raw products purchased to customer drawings and specifications.

Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders as required.

2. ITAR Compliance:

Ensure ITAR compliance and control through secured and coded correspondence and designated / approved communication portals.

3. Internal Communication and Collaboration:

Support and promote company core values of honesty, professionalism, respect, trust and teamwork and utilize the Ducommun Way methodology to achieve objectives.

Interface with all key functions and levels of the businesses as required.

4. Data Analysis:

Manage the sourcing process through detail sourcing analysis, evaluation, negotiation, and award with support and guidance with indirect and MRO commodity leader.

Develop optimal number(s) of suppliers across Indirect/MRO commodity, including appropriate mix of local suppliers to achieve best plant service with flexibility and companywide strategy.

5. Supplier Management:

Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers to ensure that service delivery meets the expectation of key business stakeholders.

Maintain and manage existing supply agreements with key suppliers, assist in negotiating price, quality, and delivery expectations on both short-term and longer-term agreements.

6. Performance Tracking and Measurement:

Work with internal stakeholders to manage and develop key performance measures and processes to ensure consistency of practice and cost-effective delivery of supplies and service.

Drive and achieve Indirect/MRO commodity KPI (Key Performance Indicator) goals aligned to the AOP (Annual Operating Plan) and LRP (Long Range Plan) including Working Capital, supplier rationalization, PPV (Purchase Price Variance), inventory reduction.

Support in achieving the overall category targets and objectives to attain overall budget performance as well as expected internal/external performance for best quality, delivery and cost.

Establish and execute goals, improvement plans, service levels, business reviews and monthly reporting in consultation with indirect/MRO commodity leader and key business stakeholders.

7. Continuous Improvement:

Drive & innovate supplier improvements and performance by identifying and implementing solutions to business problems, and cross-functional within assigned categories.

Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of indirect procurement (e.g.: supplier improvements; procure to pay process improvements; recommend new sources of supply).

Drive cost reduction initiatives with suppliers within Indirect/MRO area.

Support development of standardization, guidelines, and policy compliance requirements across category level.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experienced procurement professional with technical knowledge; preferably in aerospace industry.

ERP experience required.

2-4 years’ experience with new product introductions in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Strong collaboration and facilitation skills supporting projects that cross multiple functional areas.

Enjoys problem solving and challenges.

Team player with ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization.

Excellent customer focus – internal and external.

Decisive, assertive, highly motivated and enthusiastic.

Required Experience and Education

H.S. Diploma or GED

Bachelors degree, or equivalent experience, in Business, Supply Chain, or other related degree preferred.

Working experience with QS/ISO, ERP, or MRP environment and culture.

Knowledge of engineering, production and process techniques such as lean and continuous improvement.

2 years of experience in procurement of material for aerospace contracts and under FAA, FAR, DPAP or other government regulations.

Base Compensation: USD 66,560.00 – 72,000.00 Paid Salaried
