Position Summary
The Operations Specialist will provide oversite of the grading lines and crew by assuring the lines are running properly, load schedules are met, and work is being performed safely.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Coordinate load schedules with the Storage Manager.
Communicate effectively and clearly to freight brokers and customers.
Complete proper shipping paperwork and shipment tracking in inventory system (Fusion).
Assist with potato quality management and communication of quality specification to meet customer service requirements.
Provide oversite in the process of grading and shipping potatoes.
Lead the grading line crew to execute daily work safely and effectively.
Lead grading line crew to execute cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
Provide maintenance assistance when needed to ensure grading line equipment is operating effectively.
Coordinate with Storage Manager and walk bins weekly to conduct storage bin quality checks.
Assist in analyzing storage control data and help maximize crop quantity and quality in collaboration with Farm Manager, Storage Manager and Agronomist
Operate equipment including but not limited to pilers, loaders, skid steers, and forklifts.
Provide department coverage for the Storage Managers during their off time.
Perform other general farm responsibilities with team as directed by Farm Manager & Storage Manager.
Physical Demands
Regularly handling objects of up to 65 lbs.
Walking and working outdoors in the elements, along with working indoors in a cold storage environment.
Ability to bend, squat, twist, and crouch to achieve angles and positions required to perform various repairs.
Standing for extended periods of time.
Desired Qualifications
2 years’ experience working on or leading agricultural grading lines.
Previous experience following shipping schedules.
Previous experience working with potatoes or other vegetable crops.
2 years’ experience in potato storage.
A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one as well as pass vehicle insurance verification.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and communicate well.
Self-directed, yet consensus driven, with the ability to implement solutions with team input.
Work Authorization
