Robotics and Digital Solutions, is part of Johnson & Johnson Med Tech. At Johnson & Johnson Robotics and Digital Solutions, were changing the trajectory of health for humanity, using robotics to enhance healthcare providers abilities and improve patients diagnoses, treatments, and recovery times. The Director, Strategic Projects will report into the Sr. Director, Strategy and Planning and is a leading expert individual contributor who manages the strategic planning, design and tactical execution of large-scale supply chain strategic programs for Johnson & Johnson Surgical Robotics supply chain. The Director, Strategic Projects is the technical leader with accountability for the performance of highly complex projects, leading flawless project execution, and partnering across multiple stakeholder groups at all levels to drive project delivery for large strategic programs including, but not limited to driving innovation to ensure safety and quality, reducing cost and schedule, leading on learning adoption internally and externally, overseeing commissioning, qualification and validation of FDA and other agency regulated facilities, technology transfer and regulations governing product manufacturing.

This role is responsible for managing and ensuring the progress throughout the project leading the expedition of key activities across the function, finding solutions to key problems, and communicating project progress, issues and solutions to management and to the project team. This individual is also responsible for training and mentoring Project Managers (internal and external) to develop leadership skills and capabilities in project ideation and delivery

A suitable candidate for this role will have excellent leadership experience on all aspects of project management end to end including ideation and business value realization for complex capital projects. They will also have sound experience and knowledge of process engineering and industry experience in medical devices.

This role requires strong collaboration skills and partnership with R&D, Global Strategic Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Human Resources, Finance and Corporate teams, and external partners.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Leads MedTech Surgery Robotics Supply Chain strategic projects including large-scale network initiatives and transformation programs.

Leads evaluation of new projects in collaboration with stakeholders, leadership and corporate partners to design solutions that meet the business need, develop value proposition, investment rational, and secure budget approval for large-scale programs of $100M .

Leads multi-functional teams to operationalize strategy into action, directs and informs core team members, leadership, external partners, and other key stakeholders and provides motivation to achieve project milestones.

Establishes and leads complex interconnected project workstreams, project plans and deliverables, cross functional and organizational alignment, and project governance and steering teams.

Leads and champions process innovation and flexible implementation

Accountable for creating and maintaining overall project strategic direction, execution, timing, budget, scope, risk/mitigations, trade off decisions, and corrective course of action to ensure project meets business requirements and deliverables.

Leads the coordination of the design, execution and close out of all project related activities to deliver objectives including safety, legal and corporate compliance, quality, project controls, commissioning, technology transfer, qualification and validation of FDA and other regulatory agencies.

Defines, prepares and presents relevant content for stakeholders including senior management and steering teams.

Leads the evaluation of the value delivered versus the value identified in the business need, collating lessons learned from a business perspective.

Guides colleagues through consultation and mentoring in techniques and processes, and provides functional (matrix) supervision.

Integrates Johnson & Johnsons Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision making.

Foster teamwork, diversity, and inclusion within team, between teams and other groups.

Qualifications

Requirements:

A minimum of 10 plus years of relevant business and industry experience is required.

Bachelors/undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline is required.

Supply Chain and Manufacturing experience in a FDA regulated industry is required.

Preferred:

An advanced Degree is preferred

Medical device experience with Class II, III in capital equipment manufacturing is very beneficial.

Strong technical expertise, Project / operations management, and business acumen within strategic planning and execution is highly preferred.

Prior experience managing complex capital projects (up to $100MM ) in Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, Distribution Centers and Offices in regulated industry.

Technical knowledge and expertise with experience translating complex business needs into engineering concepts

Highly skilled in leading and motivating virtual teams and partners

Track record of developing and maintaining highly collaborative partnerships at all levels within the organization

Demonstrated success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment is required.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Strong ability to design and develop plans for strategic programs and operational excellence is required.

Full working knowledge of project controls in cost and schedule development, financial assessments and rigorous control of cost and schedule

Demonstrated effective change management skills and comfort with ambiguity is required.

The ability to actively develop talent and culture to achieve results.

Up to 50% Domestic travel required with some international travel possible

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950. California Bay Area – The anticipated base pay range for this position is $163,000 to $281,750.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporations performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Companys discretion on an individual basis.

Vacation up to 120 hours per calendar year

Sick time – up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington up to 56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time – up to 40 hours per calendar year
