Role Summary
The Director, Enterprise PMO Portfolio oversees and drives the execution and successful delivery of a portfolio of strategic and complex projects in the organization (business streams; Operations, Commercial, Airport/Guest). As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction, and collaborates with senior executives and stakeholders to ensure alignment of the portfolio and individual project objectives with the business strategy and vision. The Director, EPMO Portfolio will also manage the project governance, risk, quality, resource allocation, and value delivery of the portfolio, as well as lead a team of project managers to execute various projects, programs, and initiatives.
Key Duties
Collaborate with business leaders to drive the translation business strategies into project roadmaps.
Lead the development, execution and value delivery of a project portfolio, ensuring alignment with the company strategy, goals, and priorities.
Partner with leaders to transform their business through effective project delivery, maximizing adoption through effective change management, and streamlining/simplifying the business by removing pain points, increasing productivity, reducing costs and increasing quality through process improvement.
Maintain effective communication and collaboration with executives, sponsors, stakeholders, and project teams.
Manage the delivery of large/complex programs within the portfolio following all established project methodologies, standards and best practices.
Partner with sponsors and stakeholders to create alignment around the project business objectives, measurable benefits, success criteria, scope, deliverables, and constraints impacting project delivery.
Provide oversight and direction to the project managers and teams, ensuring adherence to the project management framework, standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Monitor and report on the portfolio performance (budget, resource allocation and capacity planning), status, risks, issues, dependencies, and benefits realization.
Identify and resolve portfolio-level issues and escalate them as appropriate. Negotiate across multiple work groups and divisions to resolve project conflicts or resource constraints.
Facilitate portfolio reviews and steering committee meetings.
Partner with other portfolio leaders to identify cross-functional dependencies, risks and impacts.
Support the continuous improvement of the project management processes, tools, and capabilities.
Mentor and coach the project managers and teams on project management skills and competencies.
Attracts, motivates, develops, and retains a high-performing team to continually improve project management function.
Promote a high-performance culture by cultivating and motivating direct/indirect reports through coaching, mentoring, and by providing regular and meaningful feedback.
Identify and provide career development opportunities through developmental assignments and formal/informal training.
Forge strong relationships and communicates / consults with a range of stakeholders, including senior management, business development, systems engineering, and external industry groups to define and achieve objectives.
Model and encourage open, honest, and direct communications and encourages open debate to get to optimal solutions.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
8 years of experience in project management, or related area.
5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 of those years directly leading people.
Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, PMBOK).
Hands-on experience in project management, including all elements of scope, schedule, budget, risk evaluation, issue resolution, quality, integration, staffing, and communications is required.
Experience in a leadership role managing large-scale, complex, and cross-functional projects. Including leading change management initiatives, implementing projects involving process improvements principles and technology integration and driving organizational transformation.
Demonstrated ability to form relationships and strategic partnerships with senior leaders.
Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.

Salary Range
$157,700 – $252,300 / year
Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)
$206,810 – $329,790
Salary Details
The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We dont typically hire at the top of the range.
