Qualifications:•High School Diploma or equivalent •One (1) year of previous work or life experience teaching daily living skills and providing supports to individuals with disabilities •Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to capture valuable case notes and relay the information through writing •Proficient computer skills; ability to become proficient in new computer software•Ability to work/schedule around service recipients work hours, with the possibility for some evening and/or weekend hours•Clear all pre-screenings, including criminal history records check, drug screen, child abuse registry, exclusions database•Possess and maintain clean NYS Driver License; have a registered, inspected, insured motor vehicle•Physical demands of the job include being able to: stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, listen and communicate appropriately, exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objectsEssential Functions:•Support individuals with disabilities in becoming increasingly independent with job related skills in order to work toward, achieve and/or maintain employment•Provide on the job coaching/training to encourage progress and long-term success, as well as help to identify and overcome barriers•Promote socialization skills and assist with navigating the culture and unwritten rules of the workplace•Execute the goals and staff supports identified in individualized, person-centered plans•Submit accurate service documentation which captures pertinent information within the required deadline•Communicate professionally with employers to both strengthen the partnership between ARISE and the employer and to collaborate on methods to increase success and independence at the job site•Continually uphold ARISE codes of conduct and ethics in addition to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA policies •Act in accordance with New York State’s Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) “Direct Support Professional Standardized Competencies”•Follow the Code of Ethics developed through the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals•Attend mandated paid trainings•Maintain professional conduct and boundaries while building a rapport with individuals and their employer •Other duties as assigned
