As a Dry Etch Equipment Maintenance Technician at Micron Technology in Manassas, Virginia, you are responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes in the assigned area, while working in partnership with production team members and area engineers. Shift Technicians supervise tool performance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to fix and repair equipment issues. They are also required to assist with equipment installs; tests; create and modify equipment procedures; and increase tool uptime through systematic problem solving and troubleshooting, quality workmanship, thoroughly document all maintenance performed in established check sheets and tracking programs, and routine review of maintenance check sheets and procedures. They monitor, analyze, and address SPC issues for area processes on a daily basis and respond to SPC out of control issues. Shift Technicians are required to keep the Lead Tech and/or Lead Engineer updated on tool and area issues.
Physical and general Requirements:
• Sustained Standing (up to 10hrs a shift)
• Walking: intermittent (1 -5 miles per shift)
• Preform light assembly with hand-held tools weighing less than 3 lbs
• The ability to work with various gases and chemicals used for production processes and maintenance
• The ability to lift 25- 40 pounds regularly
• The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
• The ability to wear personal protective gear including respirator breathing apparatus
• The ability to perform tasks while bending, crouching, or kneeling
• The ability to climb ladders and work with arms raised above head level
• The ability to see and respond to potentially dangerous situations
• The ability to report to site as scheduled
• Be flexible to work any shift and rotate shifts as needed. Typical manufacturing shifts are 12 hour long.
Follow Standards for Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Business Continuity:
• Follow all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and compliance related work tasks are being completed in accordance to existing requirements (LOTO, audits, training, Job Hazard Analysis, use of proper PPE and evacuation procedures)
• Be an active participant in the EHSS program by reporting all EHSS-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (ERT, Supervision, etc.) and through the good catch system
• Promote a positive environment for safety by holding yourself and team members accountable to environmental programs and policies at the Manassas site
Technical Requirement:
• Problem solving: Proven ability to use logic, and knowledge to identify root cause
• Understanding of Vacuum Fundamentals, Vacuum Pumps etc.
• Fluid Dynamic: pressure and flow fundamentals
• Computers: navigation through various windows or levels, basic understanding of computer maintenance for optimal performance
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of AC/DC circuits, including fundamentals of electricity, and basic electronic components and circuits
• Basic knowledge of test and calibration equipment (O-scopes, Multi Meters, Torque Wrench)
• Ability to identify and use common hand tools
• A mechanical aptitude and the ability to use schematics, blueprints, and other diagrams to troubleshoot and complete repairs.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot basic problems, find root causes, and complete repairs
• Basic understanding of mathematical concepts and problem solving at least into an algebraic level
• Basic PC skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to learn Micron systems and conduct data extraction, analysis, and report findings
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control principles
• Understand and help improve best known methods and area documentations for maintenance and recovery procedures while mentoring team members
• Identifies and implements procedure and documentation changes
• Resolves recurring problems by identifying and eliminating root cause; follows up by writing equipment related ECNs and includes data to rationalize changes when appropriate
• Continuously improve the reaction mechanisms and procedures based on feedback from the end users. Includes support of Periodic Document Review (PDR) process
• Demonstrate and mentor peers on quality workmanship through attention to detail and ensuring procedural consistency
• Promote, Develop and Implement to TPM Core Beliefs for continually improving equipment effectiveness
• Support TPM documentation requirements; 1-Pt Lessons, FARs, PFCs, Sensor Cards, CIP Program, M-Tags, Tech Memo, etc.
• Fully participate and attend TPM team meetings and use the Company’s Global TPM system
• Maintain 6S protocol in all maintenance activities

• Documents actions and provides critical issue path or resources to be completed on time
• Supports department business processes for new tool installations, modifications, and removals
Other Responsibilities
• Although hired onto one shift, there may be a need to move to another shift to provide FAB support as business requires
• Flexible with job responsibilities and shift assignments
• Additional Overtime may be requested to support business needs
Educational Requirements / Experience in place of Education
• 2-year technical degree from an accredited program in:
• Mechatronics
• Electronics
• Automotive Repair
• Aircraft Maintenance
• Air Conditioning and refrigeration
• 4 yrs of experience in a related category of work:
o Aircraft maintenance
o Electronics technician, communications equipment, avionics
o Fire control technicians
o Electricians
o Aircraft Engine Mechanic
