Senior Accountant

Job Description:

The Senior Accountant will support month end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, preparing fixed assets, commissions for sales, technical accounting support, audit related tasks, and eventually transitioning into budgeting & forecasting.

• Be responsible for day-to-day operations and close processes, including preparation or review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, monthly financial reporting, etc.

• Assist with corporate reporting by compiling, reviewing, and analyzing requested financial information.

• Help lead the implementation of best practices and financial controls to simplify, standardize, and scale our business.

• Calculate monthly sales commissions.

• Assist with annual audits by providing supporting audit schedules, evidence, and process overviews.

• Assist with researching and documenting technical accounting considerations and conclusions.

• Prepare various tax schedules and filings, annual reports, and licensing.

• Participate in special projects, system enhancements, or ad hoc analyses as assigned.

• Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes by department, including NetSuite loads and actual vs. budget reporting.

Hard Skills:

Bachelors degree in accounting/finance

3 years GL accounting experience

Strong understanding of debits/credits

Experience using large ERP software, preferably NetSuite

Excel proficiency – Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs

Job Type:

This is a permanent position.

Work Site:

This is a fully on-site position in Newport News, Virginia.

Work Environment:

Work 3-4 days in office
