A Mechanical Comissioning Engineer is needed for a large construction project the Greensboro, NC area. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating mechanical building system startups, commissioning activities, and providing subject matter expertise throughout the project lifecycle. Tasks include reviewing product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings, specifications, and contractor-generated RFIs, and extensive knowledge of safety procedures, safe work practices, and OSHA requirements for mechanical installations.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction management. It is essential to have experience in developing design criteria for mechanical systems. The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in the mechanical design field and demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and schedule management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project is also required.

responsibilities:

Facilitate mechanical building system startups and commissioning activities, ensuring smooth project execution

Provide subject matter expert assistance in reviewing product and equipment submittals, shop drawings, engineering design drawings, specifications, and contractor-generated RFIs

Apply extensive knowledge of safety procedures, safe work practices, and OSHA requirements for mechanical installations, including Lock-Out, Safe Work Practices, Control of Hazardous Energy, and arc flash safety

Possess a deep understanding of prevailing building codes and professional industry standards, including but not limited to IBC, NEC, NESC, NFPA, ASME, AMCA, ARI, AWS, ASHRAE, and FM

Collaborate with building construction contractors and equipment vendors to coordinate equipment factory testing, delivery, installation, commissioning, and handover to end users

Coordinate weekend and plant shutdown work with contractors, plant facilities groups, and manufacturing shops
