Employment Support Professional (Job Coach)

Purpose:
To teach vocational skills to people with disabilities and help them attain and maintain competitive employment.

Summary of Position:
The full-time Employment Support Professional is responsible for job development, job sampling and shadowing, job placement, training, and follow-up for program participants. The Employment Support Professional is also responsible for making sure that the client files are complete and up to date.

Key Responsibilities:
The duties include, but are not limited to:
-Conduct initial interviews with the client, VR counselor, and other concerned parties.
-Job Development (Contact employers in the community to get information on current and future jobs, along with setting up possible sampling/shadowing sessions for clients).
-Job Sampling/Shadowing (Take the client to a community employer to watch and participate in a particular job within that environment). Assisting the client in filling out applications, having interviews, etc.
-Job Training -In internship job, assist the client on the job to become comfortable with the new environment, people, rules, job, etc.
-Develop and implement job modifications as needed. Follow-up (Visit the job site periodically to speak with the client and the employer to ensure there are no problems).
-Complete all necessary forms to support actions mentioned above and to maintain client files.
-Report all hours spent with the client on the monthly attendance sheet. Write up monthly staffing reports and conduct monthly staffings with client and VR counselor with PS only.

Education:
Prefer four-year degree in Human Services or related field or High School graduate (or equivalent) plus two years experience working with IDD population.

Valid North Carolina Driver License with clean driving record. Good organizational and communication skills.
