  About the Role Lead, Plant Operator We are seeking a highly motivated Plant Operator Lead to join our team. These positions are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the refinery and work rotating 12-hour shifts. The plant operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

Plant Operator Leads at this facility perform a variety of duties. Although responsibilities vary daily, the primary responsibility of an operator is to oversee the day-to-day operations of process, tank farm, and perform basic maintenance within the plant.   

Responsibilities

Monitor, control, and adjust, as necessary, process equipment from a central console in the control room.

Supervise daily plant operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable production of our SAF refinery in Soperton, GA.

Coordinate and assign tasks to plant operators, ensuring all team members are trained and capable of executing their responsibilities.

Review and analyze plant performance data, identify areas for improvement, and develop action plans to optimize plant operations.

Perform routine inspections and audits to ensure all plant equipment is functioning properly and safely.

Troubleshoot issues with plant equipment, DCS, and console systems, and coordinate necessary maintenance and repairs.

Maintain detailed records of plant operations, equipment performance, and maintenance activities.

Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including OSHA, EPA, and company policies and procedures.

Develop and implement training programs for operators to enhance their knowledge of DCS, console operations, and plant processes.

Assist in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational guidelines.

Communicate effectively with plant management, team members, and other stakeholders to keep them informed of plant performance and any potential issues.

Participate in emergency response activities and drills, ensuring the plant team is prepared for any situation.

Requirements

Plant Operator Leads work in a safety-sensitive environment and must successfully complete a pre-employment assessment process, drug/alcohol and medical screenings, and a background check. To ensure safe operations, employees must also successfully complete operator qualification training and participate in random drug and alcohol screenings.

At least 18 years of age and HS Degree/GED required.

2-year Technical Certification program and/or associate degree in relevant field preferred

Good mechanical aptitude, oral and written communication skills, and sound decision-making ability

Excellent knowledge of plant equipment, processes, and safety protocols. 

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail. 

Fundamentals of chemistry and physical properties

Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively. 

Willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime.

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Adherence to a strict Drug and Alcohol policy.

Must comply with site and regulatory PPE requirements including OSHA Respiratory Protection and the company’s Respiratory Protection Program.

2 years of prior chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or other related industry experience preferred

Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant operations, with a strong background in DCS and console operations.

Work performed at ground level and at heights on concrete, metal grating, gravel, asphalt, and piping surfaces, while climbing, lifting up to 55 pounds, carrying 10-20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds with mechanical assistance, and working in confined spaces.

Must be able to walk, sit, stand, reach, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb ladders, work at heights, and have excellent balance.
