The Utilities Groundperson works from the ground assisting with digging holes and trenches, running conduits, and pulling cables, among other tasks as directed by the Foreperson.

American Lighting and Signalization (ALS) provides street lighting and traffic signalization construction, maintenance, and emergency response services in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States. Our major customers include state departments of transportation (DOTs), investor-owned and municipal utilities, commercial retail land developments, and commercial road contractors.

Pay : $17 / hourly

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Assembles material on the ground to be installed by the linesperson or apprentice.
Flag traffic and may be required to have training.
Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification.
Operates various tools for the work (various manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-along, jackhammers and hand line, etc.).
Clears work area around structures.
Working hours will extend into the night and will exceed an eight-hour day.
Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate the work to be performed.
Will perform other duties as assigned by Foreperson relating to utility line work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
Pre-Screen:
Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications:
A valid Drivers License is required.
Travel:
This position requires weekly traveling. Additional details will be provided during the interview.
