Regional Threshold Engineer – Jacksonville / Orlando, Florida

(Intertek-PSI) is searching for a Threshold Regional Engineer for the State of Florida to join our Building & Construction team in either our Orlando or Jacksonville offices, to support Floridas Threshold Services. What are we looking for?

The Threshold Engineers primary responsibility entails conducting thorough structural inspections throughout the construction process of threshold buildings, adhering to the guidelines specified in the structural inspection plan crafted by the structural engineer-of-record. Additionally, they supervise inspections conducted by specialized engineers focusing on shoring design, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory standards.

How you’ll make an impact at Intertek:

The Threshold Engineers responsibilities include:

Structural Inspections: The primary duty is to perform structural inspections during the construction of threshold buildings, ensuring they comply with the Florida Building Code and approved construction plans

Reviewing and Approving Plans: The Threshold Engineer must review the structural design plans and specifications before construction. This ensures the design adheres to code requirements and safety standards

Inspection Plan Development: They create a detailed inspection plan outlining how the structure will be inspected at various stages of construction to ensure safety and compliance with design documents

Monitoring Construction: Regular site visits and inspections are conducted to monitor ongoing construction, ensuring it meets the approved plans and is structurally sound

Reporting and Documentation: The Threshold Engineer is responsible for documenting all findings and submitting reports to the appropriate building officials. These reports are critical to maintaining the buildings integrity throughout construction

In addition, the Threshold Engineer is required to:

Attends client site meetings

Communicates effectively and timely with client and project teams and attends client office and site meetings as appropriate

Trains and mentors technical staff

Perform on-site observations or inspections

Be aware of and adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

Floridas Threshold Engineer License is required

Minimum of 15 years of Threshold Engineer Inspections experience required

Knowledge of current USA design codes and standards is required

Must have very strong communication skills and the ability to work with a team across the state of Florida

Ability to work off shifts and overtime and travel across the state of Florida as needed

Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required

Time management skills, critical thinking, detailed oriented, and good organizational skills are required

Valid Drivers License and reliable driving record required
