POSITION SUMMARY

To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team in an outpatient setting. The Oncology Clinic RN acts as a patient advocate, educator, and care coordinator for a specific patient population across the continuum of care.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES

Coordinate the multidisciplinary team (physicians, advanced practice nurses and other support staff) approach to connect patients with integrated, comprehensive services, specific to their condition.
Track, order completion and follow up. Monitor patient compliance with patient treatment plan and assist patients with referrals to outside resources and care coordination as needed.
Serve as the central point of contact for all oncology navigated patients, including interactions with medical, nursing ancillary service providers.
Provide education to patients, families, and significant others via phone or written consultation
Demonstrate efficiency with delegated orders and data entry with oncology EMR.
Provide patient support and phone triage skills for the oncology population.
Follows Chemotherapy dosing based on National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) or other Chemotherapy guidelines with coordination of complex chemotherapy regimens with infusion and pharmacy staff.
Demonstrates effective communication with other members of the healthcare time, promoting effective team functioning.
Assist with daily telephone triage for oncology patients.
Maintain clinical competency as it pertains to the clinic duties assigned.
Adheres to medication management and clinical procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate degree (ASN, ADN or AAS) from an accredited school of nursing.
Work Experience: 1-3 years in the Oncology clinic setting.
Licensure: Valid RN license in the State of Florida.
Certification:
o BLS as issued by American Heart Association.
o Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Fundamentals of Administration Course completion through the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) within six (6) months of hire or transfer if the Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certificate Course completion through ONS/ONCC has not already been obtained.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
o Oncology background in the clinic setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
Work Experience: 1-3 years in the Oncology clinic setting.
Licensure: N/A
Certification: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Oncology background in the clinic setting. 1-3 years of experience in Oncology infusion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head.
May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise.
May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
Workspace may vary from open to confined, on site or remote.
May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
