TRISO-X, LLC is seeking aHealth and Safety Specialistto develop and to implementprograms and procedures related to the health and safety of employees, the public, and the environment to ensure the company remains in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.The role also identifies safety trends and recommends options to reduce the frequency and severity of issues related to radiological, occupational safety and health, and/or construction safety; and develops, maintains, and continuously improves programs to prevent and mitigate employee injuries and illnesses.
Responsibilities:

– Role assignments will focus on one or more of the following technical specialty areas, depending on the organizational need: Radiation Protection, Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Safety.
– Assignments supporting Radiation Protection or Occupational Safety and Health will focus heavily on facility/process design and development and implementation of safety and compliance programs and procedures for a new nuclear fuel fabrication facility, and then the role will transition from design/licensing support through construction and start-up/commissioning to supporting day-to-day facility operations.
– Assignments supporting Construction Safety will provide field support at a 110-acre site development and building construction project.
– Develop/review/revise/implement safety and compliance programs and procedures.
– Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices; assist staff with all aspects of safety; and monitor the effectiveness of hazard controls and hazard control programs.
– Perform/review hazard assessments/accident investigations and develop corrective actions/measures to mitigate and control job hazards.
– Review and analyze injury frequency records, causation trends, mitigation options for reducing injury frequency and severity, compliance activities, compliance history, codes, and standards, as well as technical literature.
– Conduct occupational health consultations and analysis of the workplace to aid in the identification, control and elimination of occupational safety and health hazards, including the selection of appropriate personnel protective equipment.
– Apply and interpret occupational health rules and consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, OSHA General Industry and Construction, AIHA, ACGIH) to enhance understanding of compliance with appropriate standards and controls.
– Conduct safety-related surveys utilizing appropriate sampling strategies, analyze data, and provide follow-up reports.
– Perform hazard assessments and define job safety requirements in work permits.
– Select, calibrate, and maintain a wide variety of sampling and monitoring equipment appropriate for the hazard(s) being evaluated.
– Develop/perform/coordinate/document inspections of health and safety equipment and identify/follow up on corrective actions.
– Participate in Process Hazards Analysis activities with multidiscipline teams to identify potential criticality, radiological, chemical, and fire/explosion hazards and determine potential consequence levels to support the Integrated Safety Analysis process.
– Consult with and advise operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel on the radiation protection or occupational safety and health impacts of new or proposed changes to processes, procedures, and facility designs/modifications.
– Participate in design reviews.
– Support identification of training needs/deficiencies and identifying priorities for training of departments and programs. Design and deliver the appropriate programs through in-person and/or online training systems to educate and train managers and employees in occupational safety and health as well as environmental programs. Maintain training records.
– Review and audit the safety and health programs for adequacy, compliance, and effectiveness.
– Develop/revise/deliver safety and health related training to operations, maintenance, and other personnel.
– Develop/revise safety postings and operator aids to implement administrative controls to ensure they are unambiguous, easily understood, and readily achievable.
– Prepare and deliver recommendations to managers, safety committee representatives, and employees.
– Provide support to the emergency response team.
– Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
– Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and extensive latitude for independent judgment.
– Provide feedback and guidance to team members with the execution of core tasks and responsibilities.
– Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Education/Qualifications:

– Typically, fifteen years of experience in a health and safety related role in nuclear manufacturing or industrial/commercial construction, or a similar highly regulated industry such as chemical manufacturing.
– Experience in the field of Radiation Protection,Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene,and/or Construction Safety.
– Experience developing written procedures to implement regulatory and code/standard requirements, and experience applying regulatory guidance.
– Experience communicating technical information effectively both orally and in writing to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel to regulators and management.
– Professional certification aligned with assigned role is preferred.Certification examples include, but are not limited to:
– National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT)
– Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
– Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST)
– Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
– Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
– Safety Management Specialist
– Certified Safety and Health Official (General Industry and/or Construction specialty)
– Construction Health and Safety Technician

Compensation:
As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).?
