At Star Construction a s a Technical Field Trainer, you’ll train and develop Field Operations employees in a classroom/training center or in the field environment. The primary focus of the position is to train employees to increase knowledge and skills, from a beginner through experienced foreman level. You will be traveling to all company offices in our organization.

What you’ll do as a Technical Field Trainer
Train employees to Company standards in the following:
Conducting a worksite walk-though and completing quality JTSA
Operating diesel and gasoline powered equipment including, not limited to, backhoe, hydro-vac, directional drill, excavator, mini excavator
Safely using various small tools such as shovel, tamp, generator, etc
Locating buried wire, cabling and other utilities
Installing underground communications cabling, including setting up pedestals, manholes and hand holes
Safe and proper use of flagging
Property and worksite restoration
Jetting, shooting a pneumatic bore (missile) and operation of compressors
Completing required paperwork and other requirements to document job quality and ensure prompt customer payment
Monitor and adhere to all safety processes and procedures
Maintain and submit required reporting for proper training documentation
Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
To be 18 years of age or older
Authorized to work in the United States for this company
A valid Class A Commercial Drivers License, including an acceptable driving record
Basic computer skills (PC and Tablet)
Travel ability for 3-4 days a week for 3 weeks each month
At least 3 years of telecommunications construction field experience with a focus on crew leadership
Able to present in both classroom and field settings
Ability to work with individuals at all levels throughout the organization
A demonstrated ability to maintain a positive working environment
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to give constructive feedback
Able to work in an outdoor setting in a variety of weather conditions and settings

Routinely:
Sit, stand and/or walk on a variety of indoor and outdoor surfaces
Bend, squat, kneel, crawl or twist on concrete, dirt or gravel surfaces
Use of sight, hearing and voice
Perform routine and repetitive tasks with hands, arms, feet and/or legs (ex: heavy equipment operation, use of a computer keyboard, monitor, mouse, and other office equipment)
Light to moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs)
Safely wear job-specific PPE including but not limited to eye, hearing, head, respiratory and foot protection as well as appropriate high-visibility clothing.
Occasionally:
Work in adverse weather conditions
Work in moderately noisy environments
Lift up to 75 lbs.
Salary Range $55,000 – $70,000 (based on experience)
