Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Division is looking for a Senior Manager Production for our Corinth, Mississippi facility. This position will have responsibility for the Engine Assembly Operations at Cardinal Drive. The position will be accountable to meet or exceed the production requirement. The manager owns and sets the overall direction for the value stream, with overall responsibility for PQVC performance including MQ12005 certification.

What you will do:

Responsible for operations of ECB Assembly to meet established schedules and production requirements while maintaining cost. Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines and manpower to achieve safety, manufacturing cost, quality and inventory management targets.

Monitors customer delivery performance, cost reduction programs, lead-time improvements, and quality improvement projects that will enhance customer value and business unit results.

Establishes cost and quality goals and ensures the efficient integration of factory, logistics, maintenance and quality to achieve targets for assigned area.

Ensures proper direction and supervision of activities in assigned area to maintain effective utilization of personnel and machinery.

Determines needs and coordinates actions required to maintain standards of efficiency, quality and safety in area supervised.

Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc.

Promotes development of people through continued education, employee involvement, increased responsibility and ergonomics. Trains new supervisors on manufacturing quality. Sets goals and assists team in meeting quality goals/standards.

Position should have good working knowledge of labor rules and regulations.

Determining budget requirements, cost savings projects, forecasting production needs and ensuring quality standards are maintained rests with this position.

Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, affirmative action, etc. in performing assigned duties

Degree Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience desired

Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

Level Extensive Experience:

Interprets results of quantitative and statistical tools and explains results to others.

Conducts and directs quality reviews.

Develops expertise in quality assurance tools, techniques, and standards.

Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.

Level Extensive Experience:

Consults on the use of new tools and techniques for safety protection.

Performs safety inspections to assure compliance with OSHA requirements.

Designs and implements emergency response processes and procedures.

Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations.

Assesses and reports unusual or new safety hazards or violations; initiates corrective action.

Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

Level Working Knowledge:

Contributes to the development and implementation of specific manufacturing procedures.

Investigates the need to refer potential exceptions upward for review and approval.

Explains the rationale for procedures and standards in own area of responsibility.

Participates in the implementation of manufacturing standards and procedures to ones own function.

Provides feedback for improvement of procedures.

Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.

Level Basic Understanding:

Describes key aspects of production control.

Identifies types of problems that can affect production schedules.

Lists major activities performed by production control staff.

Locates information regarding fundamental practices and policies.

You will have:

Thorough knowledge of CPS processes and tools, manufacturing operations, general knowledge of related areas, previous Supervision or project leadership is required.

A college degree or 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience

Solid human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
