Fairview Hospitals Parkview Terrace is a combined med/surg, stroke care, and epilepsy monitoring unit. This fast-paced unit provides top quality patient care through effective teamwork and continuous collaboration. Caregivers on this unit are known for their commitment to open communication with one another to deliver optimal care and for creating a pleasant and enjoyable work environment where everyone is valued for what they bring to the team. This unit has a leadership team that promotes the ongoing sharing of ideas and a shared governance group that meets monthly to evaluate practice issues, discuss best practices, and give a voice to caregivers.

A caregiver in this position works 3:00pm – 11:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.

Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.

Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.

Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.

Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.

Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

High school diploma or GED.

1 year of experience in a customer service-related role.

Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

College degree.

Microsoft Office experience.

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.

Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
