Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Observation

Known for their excellent assessment skills, South Pointe Hospitals Observation Unit provides care to and observes patients requiring expedited evaluation to determine the appropriate inpatient/outpatient intervention. Youll experience endless learning opportunities caring for diverse populations of adult patients in a fast-paced environment with a high patient turnover rate.

A caregiver in this position works 7:00am – 7:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Collect, document and report patient data and observations.

Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.

Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.

Perform routine laboratory tests.

Educate patients and family members.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.

Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

One year of patient care experience.

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.

Involves extensive standing and walking.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
