SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinator Volunteers ensures the continuation of the mission and values by demonstrating a superior customer service commitment while steering the flow of the daily activities related to assigned volunteer positions. The Coordinator facilitates efficiency of all tasks related to the volunteer office by assisting with the successful integration of volunteer services throughout the organization. The Coordinator provides support, direction, supplies, and feedback and maintains organization of projects associated to the enhancement and expansion of volunteer services.This position monitors the weekly involvement and success of the St. Joseph Health Center Volunteers and SJHC Auxiliary by correspondence and communication. Will provide calls to active and inactive volunteers monitoring the volunteers satisfaction, participation and his/her effective presence as a volunteer within the organization. The Coordinator’s manner or communication should be timely, cooperative, and respectful which reflects that people are held with the highest regard. QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of two years experience in a health care setting. Volunteer experience preferred.
Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
Understands and can effectively communicate HMHP’s philosophy.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to organize and develop volunteer personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
Ability to manage a diverse group of individuals providing volunteer time. EDUCATION :
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Bachelor degree in the field of Public Relations, Business Administration, Management or, related fields preferred EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years office experience required.
Previous experience in office supervision and in training others required.
Must be proficient in Word, Excel and Microsoft Office. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: Provides coordination to volunteers and auxiliary including a yearly review.Recruits, screens, and trains volunteers on a regular basis to meet the volunteer needs of the St. Joseph Health Center and the patients/families. Develops and implements volunteer orientation and training program(s).Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for volunteer and auxiliary areas. Strives to provide stewardship of funds.Provides support and continued education through volunteer meetings, events and in-services to ensure volunteers are informed of changes and industry trends. Facilitates communication with volunteers through monthly newsletter, Volunteer Advisory Council, etc.Assesses the need for volunteer services with the patient/family/caregiver and St. Joseph Health Center team. Assigns volunteers as appropriate. Provides feedback to volunteers as needed. Attends Team meetings for exchange of information.Assists the Manager in the evaluation of volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains personnel file on each volunteer.Provide recognition to volunteers to enhance their volunteer experience.Maintains monthly statistics and reports as needed.Reevaluates volunteer and auxiliary program as necessary. Recommends changes to ensure an effective volunteer program.Provides information to individuals and community groups about St. Joseph Health Center volunteer services and other aspects of SJHC operations as needed.In concert with Manager of Patient Liaison, facilitates community education events and Speakers Bureau.Works collaboratively with key St. Joseph’s Health Center staff, as needed, in the budget preparation for program development. Actively participates in organization-wide quality management program.Provides appropriate volunteer assistance for SJCH.Implements, supervises and maintains youth volunteer program.Promotes positive employee relations and guest relations.Writes monthly volunteer and auxiliary newsletter.Assists in the supervision of the Volunteer Advisory Council.Assists all Directors and Managers as requested.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Helps establish schedules of volunteers required for different positions.Assists with the organizing and maintaining projects associated with the volunteer department.Assists with setting up timelines associated with volunteer projects.Make follow up phone calls and correspondence for individual volunteers as needed.Assist with community projects by assisting with correspondence, phone calls and scheduling meetings.Sends follow up volunteer surveys out.Maintains mandatory education and TB records.Assists with development and maintains volunteer policy and procedure manual.Assist with setting office atmosphere conducive to volunteer projects.Oversees the accuracy of the daily tasks of the volunteer office i.e. mailings, collating, mail and flower deliveries.Assist with orientation and training aspects for new volunteers.Assists with records reflecting volunteer hours.Assists with maintaining the satisfaction, participation and effective presence of the volunteer within the Health Center.Assist with recognition programs for volunteers.The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
