(FHRC), our mission is to promote equal housing opportunities for all persons and to advocate for fair housing and diversity in Trumbull County and the surrounding communities. Today, housing discrimination has changed its outward appearance. Instead of a slammed door, unsuspecting home seekers may be shown through a revolving door and may be politely turned away from the housing of their choice, even though they are qualified candidates. Often, housing discrimination is cleverly disguised with a smile and a handshake, instead of obvious discrimination, but the result, however, is the same. ]{ms=”” san=”” serif””=””}

[FHRC is seeking housing investigators of all ages, ethnicities, races, backgrounds, sex, and gender identities in Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, and Trumbull Counties. As a housing investigator, you will pose as a typical home seeker and go through the process of inquiring about rental opportunities while keeping track of your experience. Minority Housing Investigators are paired with white Housing Investigators of the same financial qualifications, and are sent to rental properties to document whether housing providers treat equally-qualified people differently. The program includes a paid training session, excellent part-time pay, and flexible work times that are coordinated to your schedule. ]{ms=”” san=”” serif””=””}

[Once you qualify and complete your training as a Housing Investigator, you will operate as a part-time seasonal employee for FHRC on a project-by-project basis. [- Must be at least 18 years of age. ]{ms=”” san=”” serif””=””}

[- Have good observational and writing skills. ]{ms=”” san=”” serif””=””}

[- Must have access and ability to use a computer, email, and phone. ]{ms=”” san=”” serif””=””}

[- Must have access to reliable transportation. ]{ms=”” san=”” serif””=””}
