## Job Summary
The University of Michigan-Flint Office of Information Technology Services is looking for a Desktop Support Specialist Intermediate. This customer service position provides direct hardware, software, and classroom support to users.
This position reports to the Business Administrator Intermediate.
The work schedule will include occasional Saturdays.
## Responsibilities
– Provide comprehensive support for hardware, software, and network within the unit.
– Resolve issues related to hardware, software, network, and other operational needs.
– Install, modify, repair, and maintain PC and MAC systems, including Windows 10/11 and OSX.
– Implement, test, and document new applications and hardware.
– Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on systems and mediated classroom technology, ensuring physical security and proper configuration.
– Instruct users on system and application usage; provide training for support staff.
– Assist with the development, installation, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of equipment, including mediated classroom technology on the UM-Flint campus.
– Maintain and update the inventory of CS equipment and storage areas.
– Administer, configure, maintain, and upgrade mobile classroom carts and classroom computers.
– Represent the unit in university-wide technology committees and manage special projects.
– Continuously update technical skills through various learning resources and training.
– Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
## Required Qualifications
– Associates degree in computer science or related field and/or a combination of education and experience.
– 2 or more years experience in enterprise desktop or computing support environments.
– Demonstrated ability to support Windows 10/11 and Mac OSX in an enterprise production environment.
– Demonstrated excellent customer service skills necessary to work with novice to advanced computer users.
– Experience working with mediated equipment such as data projectors, document cameras and audio systems in a classroom setting.
