This position offers a $2,500 signing bonus for eligible candidates.

The City Income Tax Bureau within the Michigan Department of Treasury is seeking an individual to work in public service as an Auditor in its City Tax, Compliance and Collections unit. PLEASE NOTE: New Hires will receive a one-time signing bonus of $2,500. The bonus will be paid out as a $1,250 gross pay adjustment on the employees first pay warrant. The remaining $1,250 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours) of satisfactory service. If the employee leaves within one year of the appointment, they will be required to pay back the entire bonus.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelors degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Experience

Note: Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelors degree. Qualifying experience is counted post bachelors degree.

Auditor 9

No specific type or amount is required.

Auditor 10

One year of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor 9.

Auditor P11

Two years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records equivalent to an Auditor, including one year equivalent to an Auditor 10.

Alternate Education and Experience

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA) may be substituted for one year of experience at the P11 level.

OR

Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of experience at the P11 level.

This position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week, however selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Please note that occasional onsite work will be required.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
