### Position Summary
This position involves working with faculty, researchers, Environmental Health and Safety, Campus Animal Resources and contract vendors to develop operational policies and guidelines, while identifying and addressing research and compliance needs.
This position assists with new employee onboarding, facility orientation and training, and office assignments, while providing continued support to current staff. This position coordinates projects as well as manages existing shared and common spaces within the three Grand Rapids buildings. The Facilities Coordinator requests proposals/quotes from vendors, submits requisitions, processes invoices, and helps oversee the facilities operational accounts. This position reports to the CHM West Michigan Operations Director and works closely with other members of the Operations and Facilities team, including the CHM Director of Security, CHM parking administrator, and Building Services Engineer and requires significant on-site presence.
### Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Facilities Management, Business Management, or Science; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in facilities and building operations management, including building management systems; experience with financial management including budgeting and accounting; the job may require experience in managing scientific laboratories and buildings or a facility related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
### Desired Qualifications
The candidate must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize issues, be proactive and take initiative to identify problems and troubleshoot in a logical manner, and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Outstanding customer service skills are also required. The position requires computer and software aptitude, with an emphasis on word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software. The candidate should have flexibility to deal with urgent or last-minute problems as they arise, an enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong, trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels and an ability to comprehend and use technology to aid in the management of duties including building management systems, and diagnostic equipment.
Scientific and/or research background and knowledge of research operations and support, experience with building management systems, and strong management and leadership skills. The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills, sound judgment and decision-making skills and a hands-on problem-solving approach.
