The City of Elk River is seeking a motivated and creative individual to serve as our part-time Senior Activity Center Assistant for our adult (55 years) program! In this position, you will assist with developing programs and leading activities; assist in creating marketing materials; process registrations; and respond to customer inquiries.

Requires HS diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, experience working with seniors, leading events and activities, and using the computer.

Position Summary:
The Senior Activity Center Assistant assists with all aspects of Senior Activity Center programming including developing and leading activities, special events, and trips.
Essential Functions
Assists in program preparation and implementation.
Assist with programs and events, including leading group activities and trips.
Assists with program planning.
Prepares rooms for daily programs, including organizing, cleaning, and set up.
Prepares necessary food and beverage prior to events.
Serves food and beverages during events.
Shops for program supplies.
Performs registration duties.
Processes memberships and program registrations.
Issues refunds.
Runs membership reports.
Performs clerical duties.
Proofreads all marketing material including monthly senior newsletter.
Assists in creating marketing materials including e-newsletter and flyers.
Tracks daily attendance.
Responsible for all aspects of monthly newsletter mailing including sorting, labeling, and delivering.
Occasionally assists FTCenter staff with front desk operations.
Performs other essential job duties.
Maintains coffee shop to ensure it is adequately supplied.
Informs supervisory staff of any concerns or issues involving participants.
Follows all safety policies and procedures.
Explains services, programs, and procedures.
Gives tours of Senior Center.

Skilled in proofreading written material.
Ability to be creative.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Drivers license and good driving record.
Previous experience working with seniors.
Experience through employment or volunteering leading events and activities.
Experience planning programs and events.
Experience using a computer and other office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Postsecondary training in related field.
Recreation experience or education.
