What You’ll Do

As the Senior Manager Fleet and Procurement, you will oversee fleet, personnel, development, safety, training, parts procurement, and inventory control for the Mechanical Department. Ultimately, the Senior Manager is responsible for maintenance, repair, procurement and support for REMPREX fleet and customer assets. This role will report to the Director of Mechanical and directly supervise a team of procurement specialists.

Responsibilities

Act as a subject matter expert in all things electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical on a variety of equipment

Oversee the repair and maintenance functions of the Mechanical group, maximizing equipment availability

Oversee the accounting functions and provide analysis to support data driven decisions that support company goals, visions, and initiatives

Assist with trend analysis to shape a preventative maintenance program

Maintain detailed daily, weekly, and monthly records of equipment across the network

Assist with the enhancement of maintenance auditing programs

Properly document invoicing and other chargeable services

Implement and document cost saving initiatives

Evaluate suppliers to achieve cost-effective agreements

Consolidate vendor network

Maintain a department-wide parts and inventory list

Manage parts inventory to decrease stocking levels

Develop and manage min / max inventory levels across network

Foster a culture of maintaining a safe and clean work environment

Support safe work habits that eliminate all at-risk behavior, with goal of zero accidents or injuries

Ensure absolute compliance in company, railroad, FRA, OSHA, DOT – FMCSA and environmental regulations

What You’ll Need

High school diploma or GED

Minimum of ten years of experience managing M&R, fleet, and heavy equipment maintenance

Minimum of fifteen years of experience with heavy equipment repairs

Minimum of fifteen years of diesel mechanic experience

Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, mainframe systems, and terminal operating systems

Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies and testing experience

Proven ability to read variable schematic logic for both low- and high-voltage electrical and a variety of hydraulics

Possess an analytical mindset; ability to create reports, define analytics, and create key performance indicators (KPIs) to create the opportunity for cost savings, profitability, and service excellence.

Ability to effectively communicate, train, support and motivate direct reports

Strong problem solving, negotiation, and process improvement skills

Ability to pass a background and drug test, per Class 1 Railroad and E-Railsafe protocols

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Previous Intermodal experience

Location

REMPREX is a 24/7/365 operation. This is a full-time role, and hours worked will encompass the hours needed to ensure staff and fleet needs meet both REMPREX and clients’ standards. Individuals in this role must be available on an on-call basis to address issues, repairs, or incidents as needed. This role will require the individual to travel as needed to support business operations. This role works both in an office and outdoors.
